After the T20 series between India and Sri Lanka, the Test series will now start. The first match of the two-Test series will be played at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali from March 4. This Test is special for Team India, as former captain Virat Kohli will represent the country for the 100th time in the biggest format of cricket. BCCI has taken a big decision to make Virat’s 100th Test memorable. It has allowed spectators to enter the stadium three days before the match.
50 percent of the spectators can go to the Mohali stadium to watch the match. Earlier, the BCCI had decided that the spectators would not be allowed to enter the stadium due to the frequent cases of corona coming around Mohali. At the same time, for the second Test in Bengaluru, the Karnataka State Cricket Association has allowed 50 percent of the spectators to come to the stadium. The match will be played from March 12 at the N Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. It will also be a day-night match.
Earlier, three days before the match, Indian Test team vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah had expressed his disappointment over not getting permission for the spectators. Bumrah had said- We are currently focusing only on what is in our control. If the audience came, we would have been encouraged, but we do not set such rules.
Kohli would like to make his 100th Test match memorable. He has not scored a century in international cricket for more than two years. Kohli’s last alert came on 22 November 2019. Then he scored 136 runs against Bangladesh in the Day-Night Test played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. After that only six half-centuries have come off Kohli’s bat. Fans are expecting a big innings from Kohli in this match.
