Recently many users in India had seen Google Wallet app on Play Store. However, later Google India said that it has not been officially announced. Now Google has officially launched its wallet service in India.
How will it work?
Users will be able to download Google Wallet from Play Store and store their debit cards, credit cards, loyalty cards and gift cards digitally. This wallet service of Google will be different from the already existing Google Pay in India, through which users can make UPI payments and recharge etc. Even after the launch of Google Wallet, Google Pay will continue to work as a standalone app in India.
Through Google Wallet app, users will be able to make online payments without physical contact. This app will work on NFC (Near Field Communication) feature on the lines of Samsung’s wallet. It is a digital wallet in which users can link their debit and credit cards and create a virtual card. Apart from this, users can also digitally store gift cards, gym memberships, online tickets, flight tickets, railway tickets etc. in Google Wallet app.

Google has partnered with PVR-INOX, Flipkart Supercoin, Air India, MakeMyTrip, Air India Express, ixigo, abhibus, hydabad metro rail, pine labs, shopper stop, dominos, easyrewardz, twid, billeasy, BMW, wavelynx, alert for its Wallet service. Enterprise, Prudent, Vijayanad Travels etc. The company will partner with other brands in the coming days.
