Murtaza, an accused who had done engineering from Mumbai, attacked the security guards outside CM Yogi’s Math with sharp weapons. During this he was also raising religious slogans. Using sharp weapons, he tried to enter inside the temple as well. Speaking to ANI, Additional Director General (ADG) Law and Order Prashant Kumar said on Monday, “A man tried to enter the Jabaral temple premises and attacked the policemen on duty with a sharp weapon. The accused has been identified as Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi, a resident of Gorakhpur.
The ADG further said, “The case has been transferred to ADS and we cannot rule out the terror angle. A detailed investigation has been started into the incident.” Gorakhpur SSP Vipin Tada said, “The accused forcibly tried to enter the Gorakhnath temple while chanting religious slogans, but was stopped by the policemen.” Data said two policemen The injured are being treated.
The SSP further said that a case has been registered against the accused under sections 301 (attempt to murder) of the IPC besides other sections. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya condemned the incident and said that the government has taken cognizance of the incident.
