To promote the drone industry in India, the import of drones manufactured abroad has been banned by the Government of India. According to the new decision of the government, foreign drones can be imported only for defense, security and modification purposes. This decision has been taken to promote local producers under the Make in India project.
Let us tell you that there is no restriction on the import of tools for making drones by the government. All the tools required to make drones can be procured from outside as before. The DG of Foreign Trade Department has issued a notification in this matter and instructions have been given to start the implementation of this rule with immediate effect. Let us tell you that the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme was implemented by the Central Cabinet in the month of September itself to make India a drone hub. Under which an incentive of up to 20 percent is given for the production of drones and drone parts. 120 crores has also been allocated by the government for this scheme.
