Central government employees are currently waiting for the dearness allowance for the second half of the year. In the coming months, the government is going to increase the DA of central employees. Before this, good news has come from Sikkim. The Sikkim government has given a big gift to its employees and pensioners. The newly elected government of Sikkim has announced a 4 percent increase in dearness allowance in the first cabinet meeting.
Implemented from 1 July 2023
This increase in DA has come into effect from July 1, 2023. The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha government took this decision in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang. Prem Singh Tamang has become the Chief Minister of Sikkim for the second consecutive time. With this increase of 4 percent, the dearness allowance and dearness relief of Sikkim government employees and pensioners has increased to 46 percent. This increase in DA will have an impact of Rs 174.6 crore on the state treasury in the current financial year.

On March 7, the central government increased DA by 4 percent to 50 percent. More than 1 crore central government employees and pensioners are getting the benefit of this 4 percent increase. It has come into effect from January 1, 2024. Apart from this, the HRA of the employees has also been increased. With DA becoming 50 percent of the basic pay, many central government organizations including Railways have demanded the Eighth Pay Commission. According to reports, the Eighth Pay Commission may be implemented from January 2026.
