The government has issued a warning for Google Chrome users. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) said that the PC and Linux systems of millions of users of Google Chrome browser in India could be affected due to this. On June 14, the security agency issued a warning saying that hackers can bypass the security system of Google Chrome, due to which the personal data of users can be hacked. CERT-In has asked users to immediately update their Google Chrome browser.
What is the government’s warning
CERT-In issued a warning and said that this flaw in Google Chrome browser has been found in V8 and free Dawn, BrowserUI, DevTools, Memory Allocator, Downloads etc. arbitrage. In simple language, due to this flaw in Google Chrome browser, cyber criminals can get access to the PC of the users. The cyber security agency said that users have to ensure that if they are using Google Chrome in Windows, MacOS or Linux, then they are not using the below mentioned version.
- Google Chrome versions prior to 126.0.6478.56/57 (Windows and Mac)
- Google Chrome versions prior to 126.0.6478.54 (Linux)
How to update Google Chrome
CERT-In said that if you are using Google Chrome on your PC, then you will have to download the latest version. For this, you will have to follow the steps given below.
- First of all launch Google Chrome browser on your PC.
- After this, click on the three dots on the top right and go to settings.
- Here you will see the option of About, click on it.
- Now click on Update Chrome and download the latest version.
- In this way your Google Chrome browser will be updated with the latest version.
