Students should also know all the major differences between Kendriya Vidyalaya and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya before admission-
1- There are more than 600 Navodaya Vidyalayas in India, while the number of Kendriya Vidyalayas is 1254.
2- You will easily find Kendriya Vidyalaya near your hometown, whereas finding Navodaya Vidyalaya may be a bit difficult.
3- Kendriya Vidyalaya has branches in India as well as in 3 other countries, whereas NVS is only in India.
4- In Kendriya Vidyalaya, first priority is given to children of people employed in government jobs, whereas this is not the case in NVS.
5- Kendriya Vidyalaya has a fixed syllabus, which means limited attention is given to local customs.
6- The tuition fees of Kendriya Vidyalaya are cheap but the total cost of education becomes high due to extra expenses like transportation, uniform and notebooks. On the other hand, Navodaya Vidyalaya supports free education. Some fees are charged from the children of senior classes.
7- Extra-curricular activities are limited in Navodaya Vidyalaya as compared to Kendriya Vidyalaya.
8- The environment of Navodaya Vidyalayas is more competitive due to limited number of seats available. This can cause problems for children who are not accustomed to stress.
9- Teachers of both the schools also get different facilities. If husband and wife are in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan schools, then they can apply for mutual transfer in the same state. But there is no such facility in NVS.
10- If we talk about working hours, then in KVS you have to work for 6-7 hours, but NVS is a 24 hour working institute.
