Gujarat Assembly Budget Session 2022: In the matter of sale of illegal liquor in Gujarat, seizure of heroin worth thousands of crores from Adani Port, the opposition created a lot of ruckus in the assembly. Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi stood up to reply but could not present the reply due to the uproar by the opposition, the house had to be adjourned for some time. Congress MLA Bhaga Bhai Barad raised the question of illicit liquor and drugs in Gir Somnath and Rajkot districts of Saurashtra during a quiz on the second day of the budget session of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. While presenting the data-wise details, Minister of State for Home, Sanghvi said that the Gujarat Police, taking continuous action in this matter, tried to control the illegal liquor and drug trade by registering thousands of cases.
Deputy leader of Congress in Vidhan Sabha Shailesh Parmar said Vibrant Gujarat, dynamic Gujarat is now moving towards Udta Gujarat. In the last two years, foreign liquor worth Rs 215 crore, country liquor worth Rs 4 crore and beer worth Rs 16 crore were seized in the state. The value of opium charas, heroin ganja, which was illegally brought into the state, was about 370 crores. Minister of State Harsh Sanghvi stood up to answer this, Congress MLAs stood up and started making noise.
Congress MLA Poonja ji Vansh raised the issue of drugs worth 21000 crores caught at Adani Port under Point of Order here but Law Minister Rajendra Trivedi denied that the member did not have special rights on this issue and asked Speaker Dr. Nimaben Acharya. appealed to proceed with the proceedings. After this, the Speaker of the Assembly, dismissing the question raised on drugs, directed the proceedings of the House to proceed.
