Interviewing these lines, the farmers of Dhundi village, two kilometers away from Thasra tehsil of Kheda district, are showing a new direction to the nation in the production of solar energy by forming the Solar Energy Producer Co-operative Society. These farmers used technology and used the energy of the sun shining in the sky to do agriculture, apart from producing electricity from it and selling it to Madhya Gujarat Vidyut Company Limited, each farmer got an income of about 1.5 lakh rupees. Let us tell you that these farmers have formed their own circle and in which 16 farmer members are involved. Talking on this special achievement, according to Praveen Parmar, the minister of this farmer group, till the year 2019, by selling 2,08,913 units of electricity to a company named MGVCL, nine farmers got an income of Rs 10 lakh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Gujarat on May 28, where they will also participate in a conclave related to the cooperative sector.
It is worth noting that Dhundi village of Kheda district has been in the headlines amid PM Modi’s visit to Gujarat. Some farmers of this village had formed a cooperative society in 2016 and in few years have set a new example of development by producing solar energy.
Electricity generation from agriculture and personal income
It is worth mentioning that in Dhundi village, there are three plants of 10.8 kW each, 3 of 8 kW and 3 of 5 kW together with 9 plants of total 79.4 kW are functioning. Explain that a total of 350 units of solar energy is produced daily from all these plants. The farmers of the circle use solar energy for irrigation only according to the need and sell the rest to MGVCAL at the rate of 4.63 according to the power grid. Along with this, Manjali has done Purchase Power Agreement (PPA) with this organization for 25 years.
Used to use diesel pump for irrigation a few years ago
Praveen Paramar of Mandali told that earlier farmers used to use diesel pump sets for irrigation. But it used to cost every farmer 500 to 700 rupees daily. Along with this, both their time and money was wasted to bring diesel. After this, Paramar told that the environment was harmed by the diesel engine, but due to the solar pump irrigation, along with getting green and clean energy, pollution has also stopped.
increased income of farmers
The pilot project cost of the solar powered well was around Rs 90 lakh, of which 95 per cent was borne by the IWME and the rest by the farmers. Against the expenditure, the farmers of the village got an income of Rs 30 lakh from the sale of electricity! Inspired by the village of Dhundi, the village of Mujkuva, a township of 6,000, thirty kilometers from Vadodara, built 11 solar-powered wells, of which most of the village’s farms now get water.
Advantages of Solar Pump Set
Talking about the benefits of solar pump set, Parmar said that due to solar pump set, farmers can irrigate the fields in stipulated time. Not only this, but now there is no night awakening to give water to the fields. Now due to the use of solar pumps, farmers save about 20 thousand rupees on diesel every month.
