Karachi: Unidentified gunmen opened indiscriminate fire on a bomb disposal squad of the Pakistani Army near the port city of Gwadar in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province. Two Pakistani soldiers were killed and four others were injured in the firing. ‘Dawn’ newspaper reported on Monday that the Pakistan Army’s bomb disposal team was busy neutralizing landmines in the Ankara Dam area of Gwadar district when gunmen opened fire on them on Sunday. Officials said that two security personnel were killed and four others were injured in this attack.
no one took responsibility
“The firing incident took place about 25 km from the port city (Gwadar), in which two people lost their lives and four others were injured,” said Gwadar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mohsin Zoheb. He said that after the incident the injured have been sent to the nearest hospital. Security forces have started a search operation in the area to trace the attackers. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Balochistan Liberation Army protests
It is noteworthy that the separatist Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for most of the attacks in Gwadar in the past. BLA opposes China’s investment in Balochistan. He accuses China and Pakistan of exploiting the resource-rich province. This allegation has been rejected by the authorities. The BLA also claimed responsibility for the attack on the Port Authority complex on March 24. During this, Pakistani security forces had killed eight terrorists of the banned separatist group in the encounter. Language
