T20 World Cup 2024: Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, the Indian cricket team is now very close to winning the T20 World Cup 2024 title. This last stage is the most important, because before this too, Team India has slipped here many times. If India manages to win its two consecutive matches, then the ICC title drought that has been going on for years will end. Today India has to face England in the semi-finals and if it wins, then it will face South Africa in the final. Meanwhile, Kapil Dev, the captain who won the first Cricket World Cup for India, has not only wished Team India to win the match, but has also given some such mantras, which if implemented by Rohit Sharma, then registering a win will become a bit easier.
Kapil Dev said, the whole team will have to perform better
Kapil Dev said that collective performance, not individual performance, will play a key role in deciding whether Rohit Sharma’s team will be able to end their more than a decade-long World Cup trophy drought by winning the T20 World Cup in the West Indies. In an exclusive interview to PTI-Video, Kapil Dev said, “Why should we only talk about Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya or Kuldeep Yadav? Everyone has a role to play. Their job is to win the tournament.” Kapil Dev said that the performance of one player may matter to win a match, but for the tournament everyone has to work in unity.
Kapil’s lesson, don’t depend too much on one player
Kapil Dev said that if we depend only on Jasprit Bumrah or Arshdeep Singh, it will be difficult for us to win. He said that we should talk about the team. It gives you a better perspective than any one player. Everyone has to contribute to win the World Cup. Kapil told that he was not the only player to perform in the 1983 World Cup winning team. Roger Binny, Mohinder Amarnath, Kirti Azad, Yashpal Sharma all had match-winning performances. If you start depending on one player, it means that you will not be able to win the tournament more often.
India has won 5 ICC titles so far
The Indian team has managed to win 5 ICC titles so far. For the first time in 1983, India won the World Cup under the captaincy of Kapil Dev. After this, in 2007, India also won the T20 World Cup under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. In 2011, India again won the ODI World Cup and in 2013 won the Champions Trophy. Dhoni has been the captain in the last two times as well. Meanwhile, India also won the Champions Trophy in 2002 under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly. However, then India became the joint winner. After this, India got many opportunities to win the title, but it did not happen. This time Rohit Sharma’s team must have entered the tournament after learning from some past mistakes. It remains to be seen how the Indian team manages to perform in the remaining matches.
