New Delhi. Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air India has expressed deep grief over the Ahmedabad aircraft accident. In his statement after the accident, Wilson assured it as a difficult day for the airline and assured that now all efforts are focused on the help of passengers, crew members and their families.
Issuing a video message on social media platform X, Wilson said that it is a difficult day for all of us in Air India. Our effort is now completely focused on the needs of our passengers, crew members, their families and loved ones.
Air India’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft flew from Ahmedabad to London’s Gatwick Airport as flight number AI 171. Immediately after flying, the aircraft suddenly came down and crashed.
Wilson reported that the injured were immediately taken to the nearest hospitals by the local authorities. He said that we are actively working with the authorities on emergency feedback efforts. A special team of health workers from Air India is going to Ahmedabad to provide additional assistance.
Air India has also launched a dedicated helpline to help worried families and friends. Wilson said that we know that many people are worried about the welfare of their loved ones. We have set up a special helpline, on which friends and family can contact us.
Emphasizing sharing strong and accurate information, he said that the airline is committed to keep updates without spreading speculation. Wilson said that the cause of the accident is under investigation, but it will take time. Currently, Air India focuses on providing assistance to the affected families and providing all possible assistance to the investigators. Our team is working round the clock to assist the passengers, crew and their families and investigators.
