New Delhi. A 13-year-old girl and her younger brother were found dead inside their father’s grocery shop in northwest Delhi’s Keshav Puram area. Police said on Saturday that the children’s father Manish, who is suspected of killing the two siblings, is absconding and efforts are on to nab him. Police said that a call was received regarding the incident at 7.15 pm. Manish’s wife told the police that both the children had gone to school but did not return home.
He said, initially he thought that he was with his father because he often picked him up from his school. An officer said, “He tried to contact Manish but his mobile phone was not available. “In the evening, when other family members opened the shutter of their shop, they found both the siblings inside in an unconscious state.” After this he was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.
He said that his school bags were also lying inside the shop on the ground floor of his house. According to a police officer, it is suspected that Manish killed his children by giving them some poisonous substance or by smothering them. “The case is being investigated from all possible angles and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem,” the officer said.
He said that the actual cause of death will be known only after the report comes. During investigation it was revealed that Manish was troubled due to some financial problem, however further investigation is going on. Police said that the statements of the family members have been taken. Police said that CCTVs of the area are being scanned and teams have been formed to trace Manish.
