new Delhi. The Enforcement Directorate has arrested a member of the Popular Front of India (PFI) from the Calicut airport in Kerala in a money laundering case related to the Hathras incident in Uttar Pradesh.
According to the information, ED officials had arrested a person named Abdul Razzaq on Friday.
Sources close to the development said that Razzaq was trying to flee abroad when he was caught.
A source said, “First he was taken to Lucknow. He was produced in the concerned Lucknow court, which sent him to the ED on transit remand. Then he was brought to Delhi, where ED officials are interrogating him. “
After the Hathras incident, the ED had registered a case against the PFI and its members. Earlier four people were arrested in this case. It is said to be related to Razzaq case.
The Hathras case pertains to the gang rape of a 19-year-old Dalit girl by four upper caste men in September, 2020. He died a few days later.
