Now the Supreme Court is going to hear a petition related to this fire on Wednesday. The matter has been brought before the bench of Justice BR Gavai and Justice Sandeep Mehta, which will be heard on Wednesday. In the petition, the lawyer has said that about 44 percent of the forests are burning in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand and 90 percent of these fires are due to human activity.
6 people have died so far
So far 6 people have lost their lives due to fire in various forests of Uttarakhand. These figures are double from last year. Three people lost their lives in fire incidents last year and two each in 2022, 2021 and 2020. There is a possibility of increase in deaths due to the way the fire has taken such a serious form. How much loss so far?
Since November 1 last year, there have been 910 incidents of forest fire in the state, due to which about 1200 hectares of forest has been affected. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has appealed to the public to give their full support to save the forests. There has been relief in some areas due to rain but it is still a challenge to overcome it.
390 cases of arson registered
Police have registered 390 cases in connection with increasing fire in the forests of Uttarakhand. According to the information, the police have arrested more than 60 people this year. This number is a record after the formation of Uttarakhand as a state. It is alleged that 90 percent of forest fires are man-made.
63 percent reduction in fire incidents
The Forest Department of Uttarakhand has claimed that there has been a 63 percent reduction in forest fire incidents in the last 24 hours. According to a press release issued by the Forest Department, there has been a 63 percent decline in forest fire incidents in various areas of the state in the last 24 hours. According to the release, 125 incidents of forest fire were reported on May 6, while it reduced to 46 on May 7.
