New Delhi: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heat wave in some parts of eastern and peninsular parts of India in the next two days. Also, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an advisory saying that there is a possibility of heavy rain and storm in the northeastern region till April 9. IMD has recently predicted that the maximum temperature in the country will be above normal this year.
IMD said in its advisory that on Friday and Saturday, heat wave will prevail in isolated areas of Odisha, Ganga part of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, northern and interior parts of Karnataka, coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema and Telangana. is likely to. Heat wave conditions are already prevailing in different parts of Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

At the same time, IMD has predicted ‘considerable amount of rain’ in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and parts of Gangetic West Bengal.
“Scattered to widespread light and moderate rain or isolated thunderstorm with snowfall and lightning is very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next seven days,” the IMD said. Keeping in mind the rush of people for the Lok Sabha elections, the Center on Wednesday asked the states and union territories to make plans to reduce the impact of heat wave.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya gave the instructions after reviewing public health preparedness for the management of heat-related illness. He said, ‘Timely and widespread awareness among the people will go a long way in reducing the serious impact of such heat waves.’ Mandaviya said, since the beginning of April, temperatures in many parts of the country have been recorded at 40 to 42 degrees Celsius, due to which the risk of heat stroke has increased.
He said, ‘It is also well known that the general elections 2024 are on its threshold, in which wide public participation is expected. This great event will not be complete without public participation. It is the responsibility of all of us to take care of health while ensuring public participation in this.
