IMD Weather Update: The increasing heat across the country has made people uneasy at this time. In many states the mercury has now crossed 45 or is close to it. Meanwhile, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red heat alert for Odisha and West Bengal. Apart from this, heatwave conditions have been predicted in many other parts of the country as well.
The Meteorological Department has today issued an orange alert of heavy rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh. Additionally, heatwave conditions have been predicted over Bihar, Jharkhand, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu during the next four days. Kerala and Mahe during 29 to 30 April; Similar weather conditions will prevail over Uttar Pradesh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam during April 30 to May 1.

At the same time, between April 29 and 30, the Meteorological Department has also predicted light rain with thunderstorms in the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Eastern Meghalaya, Nagaland and Manipur. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in Sikkim from April 29 to May 1.

Light to moderate rain and snowfall is possible at many places in Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh, Jammu Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh during the next 48 hours. On April 29, there may be heavy rain and snowfall in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh. Light rain is possible in Uttarakhand.
Light to moderate rain and snowfall is possible in Arunachal Pradesh. There may be moderate rain at one or two places with scattered light rain over Northeast India. Rain and storm are possible in parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and South Odisha. Light to moderate rain and thundershowers along with isolated hailstorm may occur in northern parts of Punjab. Light rain and storm are possible in northern Haryana and north-western Rajasthan. There may be light sporadic rain in Kerala.
