According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Western and Eastern UP and Eastern and Western Rajasthan is going to be between 43 to 47 degrees. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of severe heatwave for Punjab. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has predicted heat wave in Gujarat, Uttarakhand, northern areas of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Ganga coastal areas of West Bengal. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature recorded in Barmer, Rajasthan on Saturday was 46.9 degrees Celsius.
In contrast to the scorching heat and heatwave in North India, the Meteorological Department has also said that rains will provide relief to people in some states including South India. Light to heavy rain may be seen in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh Karnataka, interior parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Odisha and Andaman Nicobar Islands. Apart from this, moderate rain may occur in Chhattisgarh, Northeast India, Goa, South Konkan and south central areas of Maharashtra. According to the Meteorological Department, rain is expected in many other places including the western Himalayan states.
The Meteorological Department has already said that a cyclone may hit West Bengal in the next few days. There are chances of a lot of rain due to this. This time monsoon can also reach Kerala by May 31. Due to La Nina effect, the Meteorological Department has already predicted that the monsoon will advance rapidly and cover the entire country and there will be more rainfall than average compared to other years. The Meteorological Department had also said that this time many states will have to face heatwave for more days than other years. Since mid-April, people are suffering due to extreme heat and humidity in many states of India. At present, the Meteorological Department has not made any forecast of rain in these states.
