Heavy rain warning in these states including Delhi
New Delhi: Heavy rain warning has been issued in many states of the country including Delhi today. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain is expected to continue in Delhi on Independence Day on Thursday and moderate rain and cloudy weather are expected during the day. There is a possibility of light rain (up to five mm) / thunderstorm in the morning and afternoon and light rain is likely once or twice at the Red Fort from afternoon to night.
Chances of rain in Delhi today
Light rain is expected at the Red Fort during the morning and early afternoon hours and light rain once or twice from afternoon to night. The ‘yellow alert’ for rain will continue in the national capital for the next two days.
Heavy rain alert in these states
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains may occur in East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal; Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland today. The Meteorological Department said that heavy rains are likely at isolated places in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha during the next 24 hours. Heavy rains may occur in interior Karnataka; Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
Heavy rain forecast in Bengal till August 17
The weather department said that due to cyclonic circulation and monsoon ‘trough’ in South Bengal, heavy to very heavy rains are likely at many places in the region till August 17. The weather office said that heavy rains are expected in most districts of North Bengal except Darjeeling and Cooch Behar till August 16.
Officials said very heavy rains are expected in South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas, Hooghly, Bankura, East Medinipur and West Medinipur districts of South Bengal. The weather office said heavy rains are expected in Kolkata, Howrah, East Burdwan, West Burdwan, Birbhum, Jhargram and Purulia districts.
It will rain in Rajasthan today too
Today, there is a strong possibility of heavy and sometimes very heavy rain in some parts of Bharatpur, Jaipur, Ajmer and Kota divisions of Rajasthan. Rain activities are likely to decrease after August 17 in eastern Rajasthan. There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain with thunder and lightning in some parts of Bikaner and Jodhpur divisions of western Rajasthan in the coming days. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in some parts of Udaipur division in the coming days.
