Kolkata. During the 12th board examination in West Bengal, students who brought mobile phones against the rules during the examination are not desisting from their antics. At many places, students have been trying to cheat using mobile phones to avoid the eyes of the examiners. So far, 32 candidates have been disqualified from the Class 12 board exams in West Bengal for violating rules and entering the examination center with mobile phones. An official provided this information on Wednesday. Despite this, the fake students are not desisting from their activities.
West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education Chairman Chiranjib Bhattacharya said in a statement that four candidates were caught using mobile phones during the examination on Wednesday and their candidature for the entire examination was cancelled. He said that along with this, 32 students were found using mobile phones in the examination hall and all their papers have been cancelled.
Such actions cannot be tolerated at all
While two candidates were hiding their smartphones to solve the Mathematics paper, the other two had to write the History paper. He said that ‘steps were taken to prevent any malpractice, including taking photographs of question papers and circulating them on social media.’ Bhattacharya said that ‘Our policy towards such activities is zero tolerance. Those declared ineligible cannot appear for the examination for one year.

One person arrested in paper leak
He said that to address concerns about test paper leaks, the council has for the first time introduced a unique serial number for each question paper. Another council official said a person was recently arrested from Nadia district for ‘promising to share question papers in exchange for money’. This year, an estimated 7,89,867 students are appearing in the Class 12 board exams from 16 to 29 February.
