Shock to former CM Hemant Soren, court did not grant bail. Refusal to grant interim bail in land scam case.
Ranchi. The Ranchi PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) special court has refused to grant interim bail to former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, accused of money laundering through land scam. After the court order, now Hemant Soren will not be able to attend his uncle’s funeral. In fact, on Saturday he had filed a petition in the court requesting that he be allowed to attend the funeral of his uncle.
Let us tell you that along with this, Hemant Soren had also sought interim bail of 13 days from the court. The court has given this order while hearing this. Let us tell you that on Saturday morning, Raja Ram Soren, elder brother of JMM supremo Shibu Soren (Guru ji), is no more. He died today while fighting an illness at the last stage of his life. Rajaram Soren lived in Ranchi only.
It is noteworthy that former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on January 31. He is accused of money laundering in the land scam case. The former CM is currently in judicial custody in Birsa Munda jail of Ranchi. In this case, the High Court has given one more week’s time to ED to respond to Soren’s bail plea.
Let us tell you that the investigation against former CM Hemant Soren is related to 8.86 acres of land in Ranchi. ED alleges that it was seized illegally. The agency had filed a chargesheet in the special PMLA court here on March 30 against Soren, Prasad, Soren’s alleged ‘frontmen’ Raj Kumar Pahan and Hilarias Kachhap and the former chief minister’s alleged aide Binod Singh.
Hemant Soren had filed a bail plea before a special court in Ranchi, alleging that his arrest was politically motivated and part of a planned conspiracy to force him to join the BJP. But, the special PMLA court in Ranchi has refused to grant him interim bail in a land scam case.
