Ranchi (Language): Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, implicated in the alleged conscience scam, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday night. Soren called it an act of revenge and has appealed to the Jharkhand High Court. His petition will be heard on Thursday at 10.30 am.
Soren has termed the ED’s action wrong and demanded an immediate stop. Earlier on Wednesday, ED had interrogated CM Hemant Soren for hours in the money laundering case related to the alleged land scam. According to sources, he was questioned and answered along with the evidence. Later the agency arrested Soren late at night. Soren resigned from the post of Chief Minister before his arrest. After this he challenged the ED’s action in the High Court. A bench of High Court Acting Chief Justice Chandrashekhar and Justice Anubha Rawat Chaudhary will hear Soren’s petition at 10.30 am on Thursday.
Before this, the MLAs reached Raj Bhavan and reiterated their support to Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. The political crisis has deepened due to the resignation of Hemant Soren. Angered by Soren’s arrest, tribal organizations have called a Jharkhand bandh on Thursday. Central Sarna Committee Chairman Ajay Tirke said that 15 to 20 tribal organizations will also join the call for Jharkhand bandh. On the other hand, ED will present Soren in the court in the morning and will demand remand from there.
