Ranchi: The troubles of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren are not showing signs of diminishing. Ranchi-based PMLA special court extended the judicial custody of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren by 14 days in the money laundering case related to the land scam. Now, till April 4, Hemant Soren will remain in Birsa Munda Central Jail, Hotwar, Ranchi.
The arrest took place on January 31
ED had arrested Hemant Soren on January 31 after eight hours of interrogation in the case of illegal purchase of 8.50 acres of land in Bargai area of Chi. Since then he is in jail. Hemant Soren appeared in the court on Thursday through video conferencing and after this the period of judicial custody was extended.
Had resigned before arrest
Before being arrested by ED, he had resigned from the post of CM of Jharkhand. After this Champai Soren was made the Chief Minister. After his arrest, Soren expressed his views by sharing a poem by poet Shivmangal Singh Suman on the social media platform X (Twitter). He said in just a few gestures that he will not accept defeat and will not compromise with anyone.
Hemant Soren wrote, “This is a pause, life is a great battle, I have fought every moment, I will fight every moment, but I will not beg for compromise. Whether in defeat or in victory, I am not the least bit afraid, let the smallness not touch me now, You are great, remain so. I will not give up the pain of my people’s heart in vain, I will not accept defeat. Jai Jharkhand!”
