Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Wednesday said the BJP government is a hero in campaigning, while his party and the government led by it were “zero” on that front as they “failed to publicize” their work and achievements. Azad said that at the level of campaigning, we were completely zero. Ghulam Nabi Azad is one of the G-23 leaders of the Congress. These leaders have raised their voice for the change in the leadership of the party. Kapil Sibal is also included in these leaders.
Taking the name of BJP leader and former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, who was present on the dais, Azad said, “His government is a hero in campaigning, but we were zero in campaigning…totally zero…it’s good, I am his government.” Appreciate myself and I blame myself, my government and my party for not publicizing what we did.
Azad was speaking at the ‘Lokmat Times Excellence in Healthcare Awards 2021’ event in Nagpur. Azad said that his 42 years as an elected representative, his tenure as the Chief Minister of the then Jammu and Kashmir state and as the Union Health Minister gave him ‘the satisfaction’ of working. He said that during that time he started many innovations for the people and implemented many new welfare ideas.
Azad recalled that when he was made a Union minister, he had asked the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to allot him the health ministry. To this Singh had said that the ministry is too small for an experienced leader like him, he said. He said, “However, I was lucky as I was made the health minister. I told the then Prime Minister that I want to do something for the country, work in the health sector and implement my ideas.
