Beirut: Hezbollah has become enraged after the Israeli army’s occupation and bombing of Rafah, an important city of Gaza. The head of the powerful Lebanese armed group Hezbollah issued a major threat to Israel on Monday. Hezbollah said that if Israel continues its offensive in Gaza and attacks continue, residents of northern Israel will not be able to return home for the start of the next school year. Hezbollah has been exchanging fire with Israeli forces on Lebanon’s southern border in parallel with the Gaza war.
The armed group said it was launching rockets at Tel Aviv to support its ally, the Palestinian armed group Hamas, and to deter Israel from launching an attack on Lebanon.
In a televised address on Monday, Hezbollah Chief Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah reiterated that his group will keep fighting as long as Israel continues its assault on Gaza. The links between the Lebanese Front and Gaza are fixed, final and decisive,” he said. “No one will be able to de-link them.”
fear of a big war
The fighting between Israel and Hamas has displaced thousands of people on both sides of the border and raised fears of a major war between the heavily armed rivals. Israel, meanwhile, has said it wants to secure the north for residents to return home through a brokered diplomatic settlement or a military strike against Lebanon. Displaced families from northern Israel were hoping to return home by September 1 for the start of the academic school year. But Nasrallah, meanwhile, addressed the displaced on Friday and said, “If you want to solve this issue, go to your government and ask them to stop the war on Gaza.” Otherwise the Israeli displaced people will not be able to return home.
