Jharkhand Congress MLA Irfan Ansari has expressed displeasure over the Karnataka High Court’s decision on the Hijab controversy. He alleged that the courts of the country were being run by the BJP. Irfan Ansari, a two-time MLA from Jamtara, is also a former working president of Jharkhand Congress. He has landed in controversy with his remarks in the past as well. Last year, Ansari had praised the Taliban. He said the Taliban had done a good job by forcing the US to leave Afghanistan.
HC said wearing hijab is not a necessary religious practice in Islam
The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday dismissed petitions seeking permission to wear the hijab in class. The court said that we are of the opinion that the wearing of hijab by Muslim women is not a part of the essential religious practice in the religion of Islam. The bench also said that the government is empowered to issue the government order dated February 5, 2022 and there is no case to hold it invalid. In this order, the state government had banned the wearing of those clothes which disrupt equality, integrity and public order in schools and colleges.
