Before the 2022 Himachal assembly elections, the Congress has appointed Pratibha Singh, MP from Mandi and wife of late former CM Virbhadra Singh, as the state president. Pratibha Singh has also been given four associate leaders who will help her. As the leader of the legislature party, the Congress has relied on Mukesh Agnihotri, who is a four-time MLA. At the same time, senior leader Harshvardhan Chauhan has been elected by the party as the deputy of the legislature party. Apart from this, the party has appointed former state unit president Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu as the chairman of the election campaign committee in the state. Apart from this, he has also been made a member of the Screening Committee of the All India Congress Committee, which will decide the selection of candidates during the elections.
Congress has appointed former deputy leader of Congress in Rajya Sabha Anand Sharma as the head of the screening committee. In this committee, former in-charge of Punjab unit of All India Congress Committee and senior MLA Asha Kumar will be in the role of convener. Apart from these, ten people including Dhani Ram Shandil and outgoing state unit chief Kuldeep Rathore have been kept in this panel which will decide on ticket distribution.
Dhaniram Shandilya will be the chairman of the manifesto panel while former state chief Kaul Singh Thakur will head the coordination committee. Ram Lal Thakur has been made the chairman of the election management committee. The names of Harsh Mahajan, Rajendra Rana, Pawan Kajal and Vinay Kumar are among the four names put forward by Congress President Sonia Gandhi as working president. It is being told that the party has constituted the committee according to the caste equation and regional balance.
