Hiranyakashipu was very angry with his son for worshiping Lord Vishnu, so decided to kill him. Hiranyakashipu asked his sister Holika to sit in the fire with Prahlad in her lap. Actually sister Holika had a boon that she would not get burnt by fire. When Holika sat for Prahlad’s combustion, Holika herself was burnt to ashes.
