The Board of Secondary Education is reinstating class 10th and 12th board examinations for complementary and failed students next month. Today i.e. May 21 is the last date to apply for board examinations. Due to this, schools have also been opened, but students are reaching school in very few numbers. The hostels are closed and the distance of the school is becoming a major problem for the students coming from the villages. This is affecting their studies. A similar view was also seen in Tendukheda block of Damoh district.
On gathering information, it was found that school time is in the morning, but children are unable to reach school on time from home. In Tendukheda block, 90 percent of the children who fail in the board examination are from rural areas. They all studied in the hostel throughout the year, but even after the school opened, the hostels are closed, so the children are facing big difficulties in movement. In such a situation, teachers are coming to school regularly, but the attendance of students is very low.
The teachers said that a second examination is being conducted for the failed students. These classes have been started with the aim of achieving success, but only eight to ten percent of the failed students are coming to school. Teachers say they are in regular contact with parents and students. Parents are promising to send their children, but teachers are unable to understand why the children are not coming.
This is also a reason.
On collecting information from schools, it was found that children from rural areas who used to study in hostels have now been affected due to closure of both school and hostels. Schools opened to conduct examinations and classes started for the second time, but hostels are still closed. In such a situation, even if the children want to go to school, it is not possible, because schools are far away from their homes. In this context, many parents said that if hostels are opened along the school, then children will be able to stay there and study.
Hostel closed in Tendukheda
There are several hostels operating in Tendukheda block, which are still closed. On discussing the opening of the school and the closure of the hostel from some superintendents, he said that we had also received some students’ phones, who had sought information about the hostels. According to the rules, the hostels are closed, but last year, on the orders of the Collector, the hostels were opened for the students to stay. No such order has come so far this year. If the order is received, the hostels will be opened.
May 21 is the last date.
Tendukheda BEO Nitesh Pandey said that classes have started for the second examination. Students who want to sit in the examination again can submit the form by Wednesday 21 May. In this, students who have scored low marks can also apply. If the distance is becoming a hindrance in the education of children, then arrangements can be made to open hostels for them. Collector Sudhir Kochhar says that if there is any problem due to the closure of the hostel, then they will investigate the matter.
