Bhilai. On an average, more than 16,000 tonnes of hot metal is produced daily at Bhilai Steel Plant. At present, about three thousand tonnes of less hot metal is being produced per day. The technical problem in the new stove of Blast Furnace-8 is said to be a major reason for this. The necessary equipment for its improvement has been procured from Germany. It will take at least three months to improve. With it being the last month of the financial year and the pressure to meet the production target, this is a big setback for the management. It is also being said that due to costly coal coming from Australia, its supply has reduced. At the same time, the production and quality of iron ore from Dallirajhara has also declined. Due to both these reasons, the plant management has reduced its production.
Bhilai Steel Plant has become an integral part of the day to day operations of Indian Railways. The plant has been rolling world class trains for nearly six decades as per the stringent norms of Indian Railways. At the same time, it is also playing its part in the development, defense and research works of the country.
The last month of the ongoing financial year 21-22 has started and the management is under pressure to meet the production target. The management had insisted on meeting the production target for two months, but before it could be completed, the production of the plant was affected.
Technical difficulties in the largest blast furnace: According to the information, technical difficulties have come in Mahamaya, the largest last furnace of Bhilai Steel Plant. There is a problem with the new stove of this furnace. It is being told that preparations have been started to replace it, while the necessary equipment is also being arranged for it. The equipment used in the stove is from a German company. The said equipment is being procured from there. If sources are to be believed, it may take time. In such a situation, production cannot be taken from Blast Furnace-8 at full capacity. Because of this, production is being taken from it with less capacity.
Once the equipment is arranged for it to be installed, production from the furnace will have to be completely stopped for a few days. There are three stoves in this furnace. In these stoves, the gas is put for hot blast, this hot air works to melt the metal in the furnace. Red spots have started appearing at some places in its lining.
This reason is also being told
Australian coal is used for making and heating coke in coke ovens in BSP. At present the rate of Australian coal is very high. This coal is procured by SAIL from the international market only. In view of the costly rate, SAIL has cut its supply.
Australian coal is also not being supplied in sufficient quantity to Bhilai Steel Plant. In view of this, the Bhilai Steel Plant Management has also cut production. If sources are to be believed, the quality of iron ore being supplied from Dalli Rajhara Mines has also put the management in worry. Here the stock of Iron Ore is nearing completion.
likely to miss target
The production of about two thousand tonnes of hot metal is decreasing in Blast Furnace-8 of Bhilai Steel Plant. Due to the low production of hot metal, it is affecting the various products made in the plant. According to two thousand tonnes per day, production of 60 thousand tonnes in a month and 180 thousand tonnes of hot metal will be affected in about three months. Due to this, there is a possibility of loss of crores to the BSP. Apart from this loss, in the last month of the financial session, the supply of railways according to the target to Indian Railways is also believed to be fixed. In such a situation, there is a possibility of falling behind the target this year at Bhilai Steel Plant.
The hot metal production of BSP has come down due to some reasons. The BSP management has taken various steps to overcome these reasons. Soon production will be back to normal.
