Pune. Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan said on Monday that the rise of China and its unstable borders with the country will remain the biggest challenge for India and its armed forces in the near future. Addressing a strategic and security debate on the rise of China and its impact on the world, General Chauhan stressed the need to efficiently deal with the Chinese military at all friction points related to the disputed borders.
General Chauhan said that India has disputes over borders with its neighbors and due to these conflicts the terms Line of Actual Control (LAC) and Line of Control (LOC) have emerged. “The unstable borders with China and the rise of China will remain the biggest challenges for India and the Indian Armed Forces in the near future,” the CDS said.
General Chauhan said that like all disputed borders, the tendency of the adversary to create new facts, toponymy (study of place names), manipulate maps or create a new narrative will remain. “This again has to be faced collectively by all of us at all levels, including academics, thinkers and strategists,” he said.
