It is because of daily routine that prisoners remain safe from dozens of lifestyle related diseases.
Best daily routine for healthy life: On hearing the name of Tihar or Dasna Jail, you would see thick bars and prisoners locked in barracks behind them. Or the scenes of prisoners shown in films may be coming before your eyes. You might be wondering how they bathe, how they eat, what they do throughout the day, what a life they have, but if you are told that they are living a better life than you, their daily routine is so good that even the doctor can see it. If people are advising you to adopt, then perhaps you will not believe it. But this is 100% true.
Psychiatrist in Tihar Jail, Dr. Vivek Rustagi says that the prisoners lodged in 16 jails of Delhi including Tihar Jail, daily follow the routine which has been taught to us since childhood and our parents teach us this every day. But working people living a sedentary or hectic lifestyle do not follow that routine and are struggling with lifestyle disorders like diabetes, hypertension, thyroid, uric acid, cholesterol.
This is the daily routine of Tihar Jail prisoners
, wake up at 4 am
, Morning tea till 5-5:30
Breakfast of milk, bread or porridge at 8 o’clock
Lunch at 11:30 (roti, dal, rice and vegetables)
, Tea and biscuits at 3 pm
, dinner at 6 pm
, go to sleep by 10 pm

Prisoners work hard along with exercise
Dr. Rustagi says that the prisoners in jails not only eat, drink and live, but also do exercise, yoga, pranayam and also roam around a lot. In jails, prisoners are made to do both physical and mental work. In return they also get remuneration. Due to which they remain fit.
AIIMS doctor told the best routine
Dr. Amrinder Malhi, Assistant Professor, Department of Radiodiagnosis at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, says that those who want to know and follow the best daily routine should follow the routine of jail inmates. This cannot provide the best daily routine. Malhi says that if we want to avoid lifestyle related diseases, heart attack, brain stroke etc. then we should adopt this routine daily. This is the conventional routine of India, which our elders have been teaching us till date.
These are the benefits of this routine
Dr. Malhi says that waking up at 4 in the morning is not only beneficial for health, it is even more beneficial to sleep by 10 at night. From 10 pm to 4 am in the morning, hormones are working at their best in our body. Sleeping during this period will never cause hormonal imbalance in the body. Diseases like hypertension and sugar will remain away. Apart from this, the prisoners’ breakfast at 8 in the morning, lunch from 11:30 to 12 o’clock and dinner at 6 in the evening is a panacea for their health. We all should adopt this routine.
