New Delhi. Tihar Jail DG Sanjay Beniwal had a special conversation with AnyTV India on the health of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and all the allegations made by Aam Aadmi Party on Tihar administration. Tihar Jail DG Sanjay Beniwal said that I am not in politics. I am a government officer. I have my laws, my prison manual, I work under it. Benawal said that we have 20 thousand prisoners. It’s like a city. There are three complexes in Tihar Jail. It is my duty to provide every prisoner in the 16 jails his rights based on the manual.
Tihar Jail DG Sanjay Beniwal said that no matter who the prisoner is, he gets his basic rights and should get them. This is a rule not for anyone but everyone. Whatever allegations the Aam Aadmi Party is making, we have answered them clearly in the court. We have answered the questions asked by the court very well. We all accept whatever the court says. Why are they making all these allegations, only they should answer this. These are all baseless allegations.
900 to thousand prisoners in jail suffer from diabetes
Tihar Jail DG Sanjay Beniwal said that about 900 to thousand prisoners in our jail are suffering from diabetes. Some need medicines, some need insulin, some need something else. All that is given. Here senior doctors appointed by the government do all this. When someone’s illness is serious, we consult referral hospitals which are outside the jail. Our referral hospitals include AIIMS, RML and other big hospitals. This is a normal process. This is all for the prisoners. There is no A, B, C, D category in this. There is no rule for any particular prisoner. Sanjay Beniwal said that there are rules for the meeting of every prisoner. The prisoners who give the list to Tihar Jail are introduced to them. There is one rule for all prisoners.
It is incomprehensible that… Arvind Kejriwal’s petition rejected, Rouse Avenue Court said these 10 big things in the decision
Such pressure is part of life
Sanjay Beniwal said that our food menu in Tihar Jail follows ICMR guidelines. Visiting judges also come to every jail. From time to time those who listen to the prisoners’ rights to food and medical facilities. It is not that Tihar Jail works in a vacuum. Why should we give special treatment to anyone? If we give to A then we will have to give to B also. Beniwal said that everyone is introduced to the prisoners from behind a glass shield. This is a law for security reasons so that nothing can be transacted. We usually face such pressure. We have got used to tolerating it and it is a part of life.
