According to a news published in TOI, talking about nutrients, walnuts are rich in vitamins, minerals and omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants. Omega-3, especially alpha-linolenic acid, is very important for the brain. It reduces inflammation. It supports cognitive function. Antioxidants like polyphenols in it protect brain cells from harmful oxidative stress.

How many walnuts should one eat in a day?
Although walnuts are a very healthy dry fruit, but eat it in limited quantity. This is because it has high fat content. In such a situation, you should consume it only after consulting your dietician, expert. According to the study, you can eat a handful of walnuts every day. It is about 28 grams. This is enough to keep your brain healthy and provide cognitive benefits to it. A handful of walnuts provide you with adequate amount of antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, other nutrients. This also does not add much calories to your body.

Even if you take 5-6 walnuts in a fist, it is enough. To ensure that all the nutrients present in walnuts are easily absorbed in your body, consume walnuts after soaking them in water. Leave them in water overnight. You can also soak them in water or milk. Remove its peel in the morning and eat it raw.

You can include it in the diet in many ways. You can also eat it by mixing it in smoothies, salads, yogurt, milk etc. You can also eat it mixed with things that boost brain health. In such a situation, you can also eat it with green leafy vegetables, whole grains, berries etc. This keeps the cognitive function right. Keep in mind that eating too many walnuts at once can increase the amount of calories in your body. In such a situation, it is not right for those who are overweight. Since it contains high fat, it is important to keep the quantity in mind. Not doing so can cause you digestive problems.
