New Delhi. In 2019, India inaugurated operations of Vande Bharat trains, starting with a superfast train running between Delhi and Varanasi. Subsequently, it expanded to various routes across the country. Now, there are plans to launch Vande Bharat Metro trains in India, testing of which is expected to begin in July. According to the information given by the Railways, initially 50 Vande Metro trains will be operated, whose number is planned to be increased to 400. The range of Vande Bharat Metro trains will be between 100 to 250 kilometers. People are curious about the fare.
Fares are expected to be similar to regular metro services. However, specific details regarding stations, routes and fares are yet to be announced. The fare can range from ₹20 to around ₹100 depending on the distance of travel. It is also unknown whether other metro cards will be accepted for Vande Bharat Metro.
Regarding service, the Vande Bharat Metro is expected to operate initially with 12 coaches with the possibility of adjustment. While normal metro trains usually run at a speed of 70 to 80 kilometers per hour, the maximum speed of Vande Bharat Metro is estimated to be 130 kilometers per hour. Initially, Vande Bharat Metro is planned to operate between Delhi and Meerut, Delhi and Ghaziabad and Mumbai and Thane. Further expansion and enhancements may be considered in the future.
