Bharatpur, Sunlight and heat are not only affecting humans but also animals. These also need special care. Animals can also suffer from heat stroke. Due to fluctuations in weather, the immunity of animals decreases and the risk of infection increases. The Animal Husbandry Department has issued an advisory to protect livestock from heat stroke.
Dr. Khushiram Meena, Joint Director of the Animal Husbandry Department, said that the production capacity of livestock may be affected due to the intense heat and heat wave in the district in the coming days and the continuous rise in temperature. Because of this, they are more likely to suffer from dehydration, heat stroke, fever, diarrhea and miscarriage. He said that due to fluctuations in the environment due to untimely rains and hailstorms, there is a possibility of various infectious diseases affecting the immunity of animals.
How to protect animals from diseases
Joint Director Dr. Meena said that animals should be kept in shady places under trees or in animal enclosures from 9 am to 6 pm. There should be sufficient air in the animal enclosures and there should be enough space for them to move around. In case of extreme heat, especially for animals of hybrid breed and those with high milk production capacity, sprinkle water in the afternoon by placing palas or pots on the doors and windows of the enclosures, which will provide relief to them.
give cold water to animals
It is beneficial to bathe buffalo animals in the evening. Animals should be provided with cool, pure and adequate drinking water at least four times a day. Dr. Meena said that along with dry fodder, some quantity of green fodder should also be given so that the animals do not suffer from constipation and digestive related diseases. If animals suffer from heat stroke, immediately take them to a shady place and pour water over their entire body. A cloth soaked in cold water should be placed on the head one by one and seek treatment from a veterinarian as soon as possible.
