There is not much time left for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 to be jointly hosted by West Indies and USA. For the first time, 20 teams will be seen playing in this mega event, which have been divided into four groups of 5 each. The Indian team is part of Group-A in which apart from Pakistan, there are teams from Ireland, Canada and USA. Team India has to play its first three matches of this tournament in America and after qualifying for the Super-8, it will have to play the remaining matches in the West Indies. This will be the second time that T20 World Cup matches will be played in the West Indies, before this the tournament was organized there in the year 2009, in which the performance of the Indian team was not very good.
The Indian team lost all the matches of Super-8
In 2010, the Indian team reached West Indies to play T20 World Cup under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. In which it started with a one-sided victory by 7 wickets against Afghanistan in Group-C and then in the second match, it defeated South Africa by 14 runs and made its place in Super-8. In this stage, Team India first lost the match against Australia by 49 runs, while after this it had to face defeat against West Indies by 14 runs. The last match of the Indian team in Super-8 was against Sri Lanka and they had to face defeat by 5 wickets and Team India’s journey in this World Cup ended from here.
