Bhilai. The Voluntary Retired HSCL Employees Association has decided to continue the protest against the arbitrary increase in house rent by the HSCL Management. In the meeting of the organization held on Sunday, convener HS Mishra has announced to stand firm in front of the members on the demand of withdrawal of fare hike from HSCL management.
The meeting of Voluntary Retired HSCL Employees Organization was held at Steel Club Garden Sector-8. Third party allottees including retired and voluntary retired employees residing in the houses allotted by HSCL Management were present in the meeting. Presiding, the convener of the organization HS Mishra told the members that one thousand rupees have been taken from each member for the legal fight against the management in the High Court on the matter. About 470 members have contributed in this. He assured all the members that the amount given by them to the organization would not be allowed to be misused under any condition. The meeting was opposed to the doubling of the rent of the allotted accommodation.
The convener of the organization HS Mishra said that the way the HSCL management has increased the house rent is against human sensibilities. It should be withdrawn immediately. He also said that there is no justification for increasing the house rent when the matter is pending for hearing in the High Court.
decision imposed without discussion
HS Mishra said that the rent of the accommodation allotted to the retired personnel who have served HSCL for 35 to 40 years has been doubled. On November 1, 2019, an order for doubling the fare came from HSCL headquarters, which was implemented by the local management without consulting the organization. Whereas in 2015, it was decided not to increase the rent for 10 years in a meeting held in the presence of the office bearers of the organization in the presence of MD, Director Finance, General Manager Personnel Administrative at the headquarters located in Calcutta. The fare was increased by the HSCL Management against its own decision. Which the organization strongly opposes. He further said that the Voluntary Retired Employees Organization has decided to pay the water and electricity charges till the High Court’s decision is taken. But the management refuses to charge water and electricity saying that that fee will be taken along with the increased house rent. Whereas the management should not hesitate in charging water and electricity charges in case the rent increase case is pending in the High Court.
