New Delhi, . Students from tribal communities of Andaman and Nicobar Islands met Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan. These students will also witness the 79th Independence Day celebrations to be held on August 15 at the Red Fort.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday met 30 meritorious students of Andaman and Nicobar Islands in South Block in New Delhi.
The meeting is part of the seven -day National Integration Yatra called ‘Arahan – Island to Delhi’. This journey for students has been organized by the Army’s Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC). Under this journey, students will also witness the 79th Independence Day celebrations to be held on August 15 at the Red Fort.
During the dialogue, the Defense Minister addressed the students and emphasized the importance of human values. He said that human values play the most important role in any person’s character building. He urged the students to excel in education as well as pay equal attention to their character building and face the challenges of life with confidence and fearlessness.
He inspired the students and said that they should contribute to make India one of the most powerful nations in the world in the coming time. The Defense Minister wished the students a bright future and blessed them. While showing his affection, Rajnath Singh fed sweets to the students.
A conventional handicrafts made by the local tribal artisans of the islands were presented to the Defense Minister. The Defense Minister appreciated this special initiative, which is supported by ANC as well as the headquarters integrated Defense Staff, Achchue Delhi Area and Civil Administration of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan and Chief of Integrated Defense Staff Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit were also present on the occasion.
