New Delhi. Recently, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) demolished an illegal construction of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP President Jagan Mohan Reddy. Located near his residence in Lotus Pond, this structure was built by encroaching on the road and was causing a lot of inconvenience to the people.
Action taken after complaints of encroachment
The municipal corporation received several complaints about encroachment on the road and construction of illegal structure. Following these complaints, GHMC took decisive action. Supporters of Jagan Mohan Reddy claimed that this structure was built for his safety after he lost his security after losing the elections in Andhra Pradesh. Despite these claims, officials started demolishing the illegal construction in the presence of police.
The illegal structure on the footpath and road at Lotus Pond caused problems for both drivers and pedestrians. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s administration had already warned that no illegal construction would be tolerated. The demolition included three sheds, which had caused traffic congestion, which were demolished using bulldozers.
Jagan Mohan Reddy’s party, YSRCP, suffered a crushing defeat in the recent Andhra Pradesh assembly elections. Out of 175 assembly seats, YSRCP managed to secure only 11 seats. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) emerged as the single largest party with 135 seats. Additionally, Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party won 21 seats, while BJP secured 8 seats.
