New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge became emotional on Wednesday. He even said that I do not want to live in this environment anymore. Kharge urged the Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar to remove some comments made by BJP MP Ghanshyam Tiwari about his political life from the proceedings of the House. The Chairman assured that he will look into the comments made by Tiwari in the House on Tuesday and no words hurting Kharge will remain on record.
When Kharge suddenly became emotional in the House
Kharge said in the Rajya Sabha that Tiwari mentioned his political journey and said that ‘his (Kharge’s) entire family’ was in politics. Kharge said, “He made a comment about ‘parivarvaad’. Now I can say where exactly is nepotism.” The Leader of Opposition said, “I request that this comment should be removed (from the record).”
He further said that he is the first generation politician in his family and his parents were not in politics. He also said a few things about his political life after joining the Congress party. Kharge said, yesterday I was not here at the last moment. At that time, the honorable member Ghanshyam Tiwari had raised a problem in the House. He made allegations of nepotism. I don’t know what was in his mind. I want to tell him that I am the first generation in politics. My father and mother were not behind this. After my mother, my father raised me. I have reached here with their blessings.

‘My parents chose my name after a lot of thought’
On this, Chairman Dhankhar wished him a longer life than his father and said, “May you live more than 95 years.” On this, Kharge became emotional and said, “I don’t want to live in this environment anymore. I felt bad that Tiwari ji said that Kharge’s name is Mallikarjun. This is the name of Shiva. It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. My parents had given me my name after a lot of thought. I am the only one from my family who has entered politics. What problem do they have with my name Mallikarjun?”
BJP leader had no ill intentions towards Kharge- Chairman
Actually, he was hurt by a statement made by BJP MP Ghanshyam Tiwari in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. Ghanshyam Tiwari had made some comments in the name of Mallikarjun Kharge and also accused him of nepotism. On this, Dhankhar said that he was in the chair when Tiwari made this comment on Tuesday. According to the Chairman, he does not think that the BJP leader had any wrong intentions for Kharge. The Chairman assured Kharge that he will examine the record closely. (With Bhasha inputs)
