sarfaraz khan
Sarfaraz Khan: Indian wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Khan managed to make his debut for Team India earlier this year. After knocking on the door of Team India for the last several years, Sarfaraz’s dream was fulfilled in the Test series against England. Sarfaraz also did not let go of this opportunity and did wonders by scoring a half-century in the very first match. In this series, he scored 200 runs in 5 innings with the help of 3 half-centuries. Although Sarfaraz has not played any competitive cricket since this series, but now he is leading Mumbai in the Buchi Babu tournament in Tamil Nadu. After the Buchi Babu tournament, the Duleep Trophy will be played, which will prove to be a great platform for the players to present their claim in the three-match Test series against Bangladesh.
There is no pressure on Sarfaraz
At present, the Indian team has a lot of options in the middle order, so it may be difficult for Sarfaraz to find a place in the team. However, Sarfaraz is not worried about all this and he does not have much hope either. He said that if he gets a chance, he is ready to play, although there is no pressure of selection on him.
Sarfaraz told the Indian Express, “I have no expectations, but if I get a chance, I will be ready. I have always done this and I see no reason to change it.” Sarfaraz also shared his experience of representing the country after a long wait and coming out to bat for the first time in the Indian team, in which he told what his mindset was.
Sarfaraz considers himself lucky
Sarfaraz said, “Some people get a break very early in their career. Some have to wait. In my case, I am lucky that it took time because I got a chance to spend a lot of time in domestic cricket and that hard work helped me become a better batsman. When I debuted, I was nervous on the first three balls. But after that, I was in control. Whatever I used to do at the domestic level, I was doing the same in Test cricket. I was very clear in my mind. I was not looking at the opposition team or the bowler.”
Sarfaraz has an excellent record in domestic cricket, he has scored 4112 runs in 71 innings at an amazing average of 68.53. Now it remains to be seen whether the selectors show confidence in him for the Test series against Bangladesh or not.
