New Delhi: Three UPSC aspirants died due to water filling in the basement of Rao IAS Coaching in Old Rajendra Nagar, Delhi. UPSC aspirants are continuously protesting demanding action. The matter of the death of three students is echoing from the road to the Parliament. Meanwhile, a Thar driver has been arrested in the coaching accident case. Now the wife of that Thar driver has come forward. Shima, wife of Thar driver Manoj Kathuria, says that her husband is neither the accused nor the victim. Shima, wife of Thar owner Manoj, told AnyTV, ‘My husband is a law-abiding citizen and the way the police have detained him is wrong.’ It is alleged that the basement of the coaching was filled with water due to the driving of the Thar driver. Police say that it was because of the Thar that the door of the basement of the coaching broke and water entered inside.
Wife Shima said, ‘There were other people present at the place where this incident happened. When the police came to our door, obviously my husband and I got scared. They assured us that no criminal case will be registered, it is just an inquiry. They asked my husband to go in the same car. We were sure that after the inquiry, which was just a matter of 20 minutes, he will return soon. But after 20 minutes my father-in-law got a call from my husband that he is being arrested. We all got scared. We reached the police station. For a long time we did not know what was happening, what the charges were.’
‘My husband has been booked under serious sections’
He further said, ‘Later it was found out that a case has been registered against him under several serious sections, the most serious of which are Section 105 and 304, which are not bailable. The next day our lawyer asked for a copy of the FIR several times, but was refused every time. It was said that this is a sensitive matter. We were given a copy of the FIR during the hearing before the judge. Our lawyer did not even get a chance to prepare. We have also seen that video. In that, when the car passes through that place, water is splashed, but there are other people standing there, to whom nothing happens.
The wife defended her husband
On the allegations of the police, she said, ‘The police say that my husband’s car was moving at a high speed. But if you see the video, the car is not moving at a high speed. The brake lights were constantly on. You can see the red light behind the car in the video. This means that he was also applying brakes. In such a situation, when the water reaches the bonnet of the car, no one would want to deliberately get stuck in such a situation. When he realised that the water had reached the bonnet, it was too late to move back. Moving forward was the only way, which he did and what any driver would have done.’
‘My husband did nothing wrong’
She said that we have hope from the court. My husband has not done anything wrong. We have faith in the judicial system. I am sure Manoj will come out soon. On the question that your husband is the main accused in this case. How difficult is it going to be for you in the coming years? On this, Thar driver Manoj’s wife said, ‘We will do anything to erase the stain on his name. He is just an innocent person who was trying to go to a safe place at that time. We will do whatever we can. I am sure that justice will be done.’

So far, the police have arrested seven people in this case. According to the police, Manoj Kathuria was driving an SUV car on the submerged road, due to which the water pressure increased and broke on the gate of the three-storey building, due to which the basement got flooded. He is among those arrested in this case and his SUV car has also been seized.
