ICC sought response from Sri Lankan spinner Praveen Jayavikram

After losing the T20 series against India, the Sri Lankan team performed brilliantly in the ODI series and won it 2-0. Now, with the end of Team India’s Sri Lanka tour, the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit has sought an explanation from a Sri Lankan player for being involved in wrong activities. Sri Lankan team spinner Praveen Jayawickrama has been accused of fixing, after which the International Cricket Council has sought an answer from him and due to this, a big question has arisen on his career.

Praveen Jayavikrama faces 3 charges

According to Cricbuzz’s report, the International Cricket Council has made 3 allegations against Sri Lankan team player Praveen Jayawickrama. Under the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Code, Jayawickrama has to respond to all these allegations within 14 days i.e. by August 20. Actually, the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit has accused Jayawickrama that he did not share the information with us that he was contacted for fixing. Apart from this, Praveen is also accused of obstructing the investigation of the Anti-Corruption Unit and after this, the ICC has now taken this action against him. These allegations have been made against him under Article 2.4.4 of the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Code.

Talking about Praveen Jayavikrama’s career, he has played 5 Tests, 5 ODIs and 5 T20 matches for the Sri Lankan team so far. In this, while he has taken 25 wickets in Tests, he has taken 5 wickets in ODIs and 2 wickets in T20s. Praveen made his Test debut for the Sri Lankan team in April 2021.
