ICMR Reprimand on Vaccine Research: Recently, a research was conducted in BHU regarding the side effects of Covaxin. This research was published in a foreign journal, after which there were many reports in the media on the side effects of Covaxin. It was said in this news that serious side effects of Covaxin against Corona developed by Bharat Viotech are coming to the fore. In the new study, it was claimed that among the people who received Covaxin vaccine, 30 percent of them saw some kind of side effects. Due to this, major problems related to periods are also being seen in women. Now the Indian Council of Medical Research i.e. ICMR has expressed a strong reaction on this research.
Nothing to do with ICMR
ICMR has written in a notice to the editor of the New Zealand-based Drug Safety Journal and BHU that the research which claims that serious side effects were observed in people taking the vaccine in a one-year study, is completely misleading and false. Based on wrong facts. This has nothing to do with ICMR. ICMR has neither provided any technical help nor any financial assistance for this. ICMR has written that Covaxin has been mentioned in the study and it has been said that its effect was studied for a year but there is no comparison with the people who did not take the vaccine. Then how to understand that these side effects happened only to those who took the vaccine. The side effects that are being mentioned are also normal side effects and can happen to anyone.
No background of people with side effects
ICMR has said that no mention was made about the background of the people involved in the study and what kind of problems they already had. From this, how can it be ascertained that the person has experienced side effects only after taking the vaccine? In such a situation, it is not at all right to link it with the Covid-19 vaccine. The way data of less than one thousand persons was taken in this study is also completely one-sided. The interesting thing is that information was taken from the people participating in the survey over phone and they were asked what problem they were facing. This fact itself is misleading because in this case no physical examination or blood test was done. On the basis of all these wrong facts, ICMR has asked the journal to immediately remove its reference.
These types of problems are happening
According to the study conducted by BHU, stroke and Guillain Barre syndrome were also seen in one percent of the people. Apart from this, problems like skin related diseases, nerve related problems and general disorders were also seen in teenage people. Apart from all this, muscle related problems were also seen in 5.8 percent people. The study found that 4.6 percent of women taking Covaxin had serious problems related to periods. Thyroid and eye problems were also seen as side effects of Covaxin.
