Ahmedabad. The process of handing over the bodies of people who lost their lives in a recent plane crash in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is going on to their families. In this regard, Superintendent of Civil Hospital, Dr. Rakesh Joshi said on Monday that a total of 259 dead have been identified so far, out of which 253 have been identified through DNA investigation and 6 have been identified on the basis of faces. Out of these dead, 256 bodies have been handed over to the relatives, while the remaining 3 bodies will soon be delivered to the relatives concerned.
Dr. Joshi said that 253 dead have been confirmed on the basis of DNA matching, including 240 passengers and 13 non-passengers. Out of a total of 19 non-priest bodies, 13 have been identified with DNA and 6 with a face of 6. Identified 259 dead include 180 Indian citizens, 7 Portuguese, 52 British citizens, 1 Canadian citizens and 19 non-people.
He said that out of 256 bodies, 28 have been sent by air and 228 have been sent to their families by road. At the same time, the bodies of three British citizens are yet to be sent, who will soon be sent to their country by international flights prescribed.
According to Dr. Joshi, 73 in Ahmedabad, 29 in Anand, 24 in Vadodara, 12 in Surat, 11 in Kheda, 14 in Diu, 13 in Maharashtra, 7 in Bharuch, 7 in Bharuch, 7 in Mehsana, 7 in Gandhinagar, 7 in Udaipur, 7 in Udaipur, 5 in Gir Somnath, 4 in Patan, 3 in Bhavnagar, 3 in Rajkot, 3 in Rajkot, 2 in Jamnagar, 2 in Aravali, 2 In Khambhat, 2, 1-1 bodies have been handed over to the families of the dead in Jodhpur, Junagadh, Palanpur, Nadiad, Sabarkantha, Modasa, Nagaland, Manipur, Kerala, Patna and Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, the number of bodies sent to London was 10.
He further stated that in some cases DNA samples were required to be re -examined, so the total number of DNA samples taken may exceed the number of dead. He said that this entire process is being done through extremely careful and scientific methods, so that the families of the aggrieved families can get maximum assistance.
