Punjab Lok Sabha election voting: Voting is to be held in the last phase on all Lok Sabha seats in Punjab. Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C has banned 3 things for the voting to be held on June 1. In view of the Lok Sabha election voting 2024, all polling booths in the state have been declared tobacco-free. He said that there will be a strict ban on the consumption of cigarettes, beedis and other tobacco products at all polling booths.
Sibin C said that to ensure strict enforcement of the ban on tobacco consumption at polling booths, the presiding officer of each polling booth has been appointed as the nodal officer.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that this important step has been taken with the aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle as well as creating a safe and constructive environment for voters. He said that the purpose of declaring polling booths as tobacco-free zones is to protect non-tobacco users from exposure to tobacco smoke and to encourage people towards healthy living.
He said that this initiative is a step towards furthering the comprehensive public health campaigns being run to reduce the use of tobacco and control the diseases caused by it like cancer, heart diseases, serious lung diseases and blindness etc.
