Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has accused the supporters of the BJP and Congress leader of maligning his image. Rawat said he would quit politics if it was proved that he had ever made a statement about setting up a Muslim university in the state. The BJP had made this alleged statement of Congress’s campaign chief Harish Rawat for the Uttarakhand assembly elections a major issue ahead of the elections. In the state assembly elections, the BJP formed the government for the second time in a row by winning 47 out of 70 seats.
In a post released on Facebook on Sunday, Rawat said, “After our defeat in the elections, baseless allegations have been being made against me on social media for quite some time without any reason. Apart from BJP supporters, one of our leaders is connected Some people are also targeting me. They think this is an opportunity to end my existence in politics.”
‘Sitting near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi…’
The former Uttarakhand chief minister said that if his alleged statement of setting up a Muslim university in the state is proved, he will announce his quitting politics by sitting near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. Earlier, Rawat had countered the allegations being leveled against him. He said that if he sat on a fast in the Congress office demanding a probe into the entire incident, the AICC would have to set up an independent high-level inquiry.
Attacks on me without head and feet
Harish said that after losing the 2022 assembly elections, there has been a flood of people attacking me headless on social media for a long time. Along with the BJP martyrs who are attacking me in Dhami’s Dhoom page, some people associated with one of our leaders are also firing shells at me. They feel that this is their chance to kill Harish Rawat.
