New symptoms of corona: If there is a runny nose or cough or sore throat, is it necessary to get a Covid test done? This has created a sensation in the Paris Olympics. In fact, when Adam Petty, who won the silver medal in the 100 meter breaststroke, got tested after getting similar symptoms, he was found to be corona positive. After this, there has been a lot of discussion about whether one should get a corona test done after a runny nose. Doctors in the British Olympic team have said that they are keeping a close eye on the health of all the players in the Paris Olympics. They said that till now they were not doing regular checkups, but after this case, they are now advising regular checkups. For this, the test will be done with a self-kit.
What are the symptoms of the new variant
In the Daily Mail report, UK doctors say that Adam Pitty may have been infected with the FLiRT variant of Corona. The Flirt strain has emerged recently and is considered extremely dangerous. Last month, about 3557 such cases were reported in Britain. Out of these, 152 people also died. This month too, the number of people suffering from this variant is increasing. This has caused panic in Britain. In this variant of Corona, people are experiencing symptoms of fever, severe cold, cough, difficulty in breathing and shortness of breath. Along with this, symptoms like fatigue, body pain or body cramps, headache, loss of taste, sore throat, chest congestion, vomiting, diarrhea and runny nose are also being seen. Therefore, if such symptoms are appearing, then people should immediately get tested for corona with a self kit. Because the Flirt variant is very dangerous and its fatal consequences are coming to the fore.
When should the test be done
Professor and virologist Stephen Griffin of Leeds University said that people who are at a higher risk of corona should definitely get tested if they see such symptoms. For this, it would be right to get a rapid lateral flow test done first. There is no need to get a formal corona test done for this. It is also necessary to get tested for those who are already sick or are elderly above 80 years of age. Along with this, if these symptoms are seen in cancer patients, then they should get tested immediately. However, Dr. Simon Clark says that we do not have proper information about which people are at risk, so most people should at least get a self-test done. At the same time, patients of diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer etc. should definitely do this.
