Fatehganj Eastern Police has arrested two accused who took the goods by making fake payment to shopkeepers by making fake apps like PhonePe. Both the accused have been identified as 19 -year -old Samarth Singh alias Chris Tomar and 19 -year -old Chanakya Nair alias etc. Gupta. Both the accused are residents of Mahadev Mohalla in Faridpur. The police have started searching for his third partner Yuvraj Singh Chauhan.
The manager of the medical store complained
According to the police, the matter came to light when Sanyam Priyadarshi, the director of Priyadarshi Medical Store located in Fatehganj market, lodged a complaint. On April 17, two youths came to his shop on a bike and bought medicines worth Rs 1140. He claimed to be paid from phone-pay and also showed the message of the payment to be successful on the screen. But when Sanyam checked his account, the money did not come. Taking immediate action on the complaint, the police arrested both the accused.
Another case of fraud came to light in Faridpur
In Faridpur, a grocery shopkeeper named Guddu was also a victim of thugs. Some youths bought Maggi, Butter and Cold Drinks from his shop, with a bill of Rs 160. The youths scanned the QR code and also paid a screenshot of successful transactions. But when Guddu calculated, he got 160 rupees less. He then stopped taking online payment. Guddu said, “Now we only take cash payment, so that there is no fraud again.”
More than 30 people become victims
During the police interrogation, the accused admitted that they had created a fake app that looked exactly like PhonePe. Through this app, he used to scan the QR code of the shopkeepers and cheated by showing fake payment screens. The shopkeepers thought that the money had come to their account, while there was no transaction. According to the police, both the accused have cheated around 30 people.
What is the background of fraudsters?
According to the police, Samarth Singh’s father works as a real estate, but remains separate from his wife and son. Chanakya’s father has passed away and lives with his grandmother. Chanakya also works at a medical store. Both are 19 years old and have created this fake app by misusing technical information. In view of this, shopkeepers are advised to confirm the receipt of payment from a bank account or official app, so that such fraud can be avoided.
Police registered a case against the accused
Under the leadership of Fatehganj Eastern Police Station Incharge Santosh Kumar, the police have registered a case under the case number 152/2025 Section 318 (4) Bhadansam. The police is investigating the mobile and other digital evidences of the accused. SP South Sahilya Verma said that the police is cautious to prevent such fraud and appealed to the people to check their accounts while paying online. The police has intensified the search for the third accused Yuvraj Singh and is also contacting other potential victims.
